ENTER THE WORLD OF JAMIE MUNRO
Portrait of the Artist
My name is Jamie Munro and I am a professional artist and carpenter living in Wakefield, QC. I have been painting for over four decades and I work predominantly with acrylic on canvas or wood, and ink on paper. My paintings are inspired by the natural world; from mystical landscapes to the detailed patterns of leaves and water. Currently, I am working on capturing my impressions of recent travels to Iceland, Spain, and Colorado. My favorite freedoms are canoeing and camping with my two adult daughters and growing food at home with my partner.

THE CALLIGRAPHY OF NATURE
My creative process is one of distillation. Using the patterns of wild grass, or the movement of water, for example, my paintings become graphic images of the archetypal patterns of nature. This is my attempt at discovering the calligraphy of nature: the universal language of line and shape. My work is both abstract, and realistic, touching on science, nature, energy, and the mystical.
